Introduction: This is no Wikipedia!

Thanks for checking in to my new home, the idea is i’ll be writing regular updates of all the madness that unfolds in my personal quest as a DJ/Producer in the dance scene.

For those of you who are new to me here’s the deal…

1. Started out with a set of old clapped out drums, zender cymbals, brit pop and odd rave tapes of the 1994 era.

2. Got into Jungle music / UK Garage and turned my craft into fidgeting with technics 1210 playing local gigs in hometown Birmingham and being inspired by the likes of DJ EZ and Roni Size.

3. International coverage beckoned from 2001 in Ayia Napa, Faliraki 2002, Malia 2003 playing for events such as Garage Nation and Twice as Nice…a residency shortly followed with Miss Moneypennys in the UK.

4. Went on to study a two year music studies course, blew my student loan on vinyl, dribbled over the SSL desks and worked as a ‘tea boy’ at Galaxy Radio and street team member at Atlantic Warner.

5. Moved to London, jackie chann’ed the technics 1210′s and moved into a digital set up.  Played at a range of gigs in Londons west end, Shoreditch, Clapham..Funky Buddha, Studio Valbonne, 24, Dolce, Crystal, Cavendish No.5… some good, some shit.  Managed to get a DJ cameo appearance on BBC’s Wags to Riches presented by Annie Mac.

6. Worked as a digital marketing manager at Lucid/Sony RCA supporting international priorities Beyonce, Pitbull, Britney Spears, Hurts and Oh land.  Got inspired by the acts in the building, special mentions to Bluey Robinson, Labrinth.  Decided to go into DJ/Production full time.  Just come off the back of a Brazil DJ tour…

To be continued!

Favela on blast: a must see

Before I flew out to Brazil I discovered a music documentary from the Mad decent camp called ‘favela on blast’.  You guys need to watch this, from visiting the favelas last week its a really accurate account of the music and culture from the ghetto’s of Brazil.

The music has inspired a lot of todays music, its raw sound and the parties are mad fun.  Take a listen to Black Eyed peas make it funky, you can hear a major influence with the beat and horns.

CHRIS BROWN’S ‘FORTUNE’ DELAYED?

While fans may be readying themselves to see R&B heartthrob Chris Brown deliver live showings of cuts from his ‘F.A.M.E.’ album in the coming days, producer/friend Kevin McCall has spilled news on its now completed successor – ‘Fortune’. Originally slated for a late 2011 release, McCall (who is prepping his own release) informed our friends at RAP Up TV that the ‘F.A.M.E.’ followup has gotten rescheduled.
